Much of the central city was damaged beyond repair in the February 22nd earthquake and has been cordoned off while demolition of the damaged buildings took place. On Saturday 29th a temporary mall was completed and open to the public, in the location of the previous City Mall.
D-photo judges liked my photo.
I got a mention in the 2011 D-photo competition for this photo. Not a win, but pretty good nevertheless.

On the Christchurch Earthquake Photo Bandwagon
Everybody with a cellphone to a DSLR has been taking photos of the distruction, and I too succumbed to the pressure. Here are a few of those photos.
This photo is outside Iconic, one of the few central city bars open on the Thursday after the Quake. You can see the army personal at the cordon preventing people going any further down Manchester street.
